Membership is open to UC Santa Cruz Rugby alumni, current players, and coaches. Every application is reviewed by an admin before it's approved, which keeps the network private and genuinely useful.

Most applications are reviewed within a few days. You'll be able to sign in and browse as soon as an admin approves your request. No separate email confirmation needed.

Give it a few days first. If it's been longer than that, reach out through the contact link at the bottom of this page and an admin will look into it.

Only approved members can browse the Directory. You control what appears on your profile: occupation, company, contact info, résumé visibility, and rugby history are all editable from Edit Profile.

Yes. Résumé visibility is a separate setting from the rest of your profile. You can keep it fully private, open to all members, or require members to request access first.

Head to Edit Profile from the account menu. Rugby details live under the Rugby tab, and badges (Verified, Founder, Captain, Mentor, and so on) are assigned by admins based on your history and involvement.

Mentors list their industries, goals, and areas of expertise; mentees list what they're looking for. The Mentorship page scores compatibility across shared industries, goals, location, and career stage so you can find a strong fit quickly.

From the Mentorship page, choose "Become a Mentor" and submit a short application. Admins review these to make sure mentees are matched with members who have real experience to offer.

Yes. Once approved, you can toggle your visibility between Active and Paused any time from the Mentorship page, without reapplying.

Any approved member can start a conversation with you. If someone becomes a problem, you can block them from within the conversation.

Yes. The attachment icon in the message composer lets you share files and images directly in a conversation.

A double checkmark means your message has been read. The colored dot on someone's avatar shows whether they're currently online. This is visible to other members you're connected with, not the public.

It connects this site to the Black & Gold Society Slack workspace, so you can post to the shared Community channel and message members without leaving the site. Anything sent from here shows up as a real message in Slack, and people can read and reply from the Slack app on their phone or laptop as normal.

Not to post in the Community channel. Any approved member can do that, and your name is attached automatically. Connecting is required for Direct Messages, and it's also what makes a message you type directly in Slack itself (not through this site) show your real name and photo here, instead of a generic placeholder.

Slack passes along your name and Slack user ID, plus a limited, read-only permission to look up other members' basic profile info (name and photo only, never messages or channel content). We never see your Slack password, and connecting does not give the site the ability to post as you anywhere in Slack beyond what you actually send from here. The Privacy Policy has the full detail.

Direct Messages require both people to have connected their Slack account. If a member hasn't connected theirs yet, they won't show up as someone you can message, and the shared Community channel is the way to reach them in the meantime.

Messages in the Community channel are visible to everyone in that Slack channel, the same as any other message in a real Slack workspace, so it isn't strictly limited to approved members of this site. A Direct Message is visible only to you, the person you're messaging, and the relay bot that makes the connection possible.

Yes. A delete icon appears on messages you sent, and removing one deletes it from Slack itself, not just from this site. Admins can remove any message in the channel if something needs to come down.

Jobs, internships, startup ventures, and anything else where a fellow member could plausibly help or be helped professionally. Each post can include a location, compensation, and a direct application link.

Yes. If you created the post, you'll see edit and delete controls on it. Admins can also manage any post if it needs to come down.

Yes, use the bookmark icon on any opportunity to save it. Saved posts are available from your account at any time.
